Bukisa Index Increased

Written by Michael Swengel on November 1, 2009

When I first started with Bukisa, I was a bit concerned. The Bukisa Index (amount paid per 1000 content views) seemed to be on a downward spiral.

This trend had me wondering how long the site would last. Many such sites start off with great ideas and pay very well – only to have their earnings dwindle over time for lack of proper planning.

Today, however, the site seems to be doing very well and growing quickly.

The Bukisa Index has been increased to 3.53 ($3.53 paid for each 1000 qualified views). I am hopeful this is a sign that Bukisa – as a whole – is doing well and that their business model is stable.

Naturally, Bukisa can only pay out what they take in. If they don’t make money, authors can’t be paid.

The site’s creators very cleverly made the the Bukisa Index (amount paid per 1000 views) variable so it can be adjusted based on how well the business is doing financially. As company earnings go up, author earnings go up. If they have a rough financial patch, the amount paid for articles is lowered accordingly.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not always cheap to run a website on the scale of Bukisa, eHow or Infobarrel. There are numerous fees to consider: web hosting, domain name, design, staff, etc.

I’m glad the Bukisa admin feels the site is doing well enough to increase how much its pays authors.

So, what does this mean for you? Current authors will be earning more from here on out. If you haven’t yet signed up, why not head on over to Bukisa and see if it’s something you might like to be a part of?
